Degree Show Work

2017

These works were displayed in Grays School of Art in Scotland as part of my Degree Show for my BA (Hons) in Contemporary Art Practice.
Current works are based around recreating beautiful or sublime images in their purest forms.
Each piece was suspended from wall brackets that hung the work one foot from the wall and created the illusion that they were floating.
All works are made out of Perspex allowing each piece to be transparent as well as projecting their colours onto the space behind.
"Clarity" 2017

"Clarity" 2017

This piece was originally for my Pre-Degree show but also featured in the degree show itself. The original image was taken on the Aberdeen beach front. Digital print on Perspex, 1189 x 841mm

"Eve"

"Eve"

This work was featured in my Degree show at Grays School of Art. This piece showcases an example of my earlier style of work which was much more stripped back and pure. This work shows Kippford in Dumfries and Galloway. Digital print on Perspex, 1189 x 841mm

"Eventide"

"Eventide"

When creating this piece I was experimenting with layering the images from different locations on top of one another. For me, it was a sense of home and my home away from home here in Aberdeen. This work shows Aberdeen in contrast to Sandyhills in Dumfries and Galloway. Digital print on Perspex, 1189 x 841mm

"Lucidity"

"Lucidity"

This piece also shows my experimentation with layering from multiple locations. By doing so, the image itself carries a lot more information yet causing it to be more obscure and abstract. Original photographs for this work were taken at Sandyhills in dumfries and Galloway and also Aberdeen. Digital print on Perspex, 1189 x 841mm

"Nightfall"

"Nightfall"

Similar to that of "Lucidity" and "Eventide", I experimented with layering. In this case i aimed to create more of a focal point for the work whilst replicating an insinuation of the sun. Original photographs taken at Sandyhills in Dumfries and Galloway and in Aberdeen. Digital print on Perspex, 1189 x 841mm

"Daybreak"

"Daybreak"

This piece contrasts the rest of my degree show works as it focuses on a darker based image. Unlike the others in this exhibition, the original image was that of a sunrise rather than a sunset. This gave a very different colour palette to the others which i found very intriguing as the final image became very powerful when put in the exhibition space. Original image taken in Dumfries. Digital print on Perspex, 1189 x 841mm
